I have neglected my blog for a couple of weeks. But for good reason. We have been beyond busy. Busy in a great way. Summer is my favorite time of year....because it's so stinking busy. We are out the door by 9 AM, and don't rest for very long. The only one that seems to be suffering from our hectic days is The Little Apple, who is accustomed to taking a lengthy nap from 1 to 4 almost every day. Now, she is lucky to hit the crib at 3 on most afternoons. So far, my kids have attended 1 week of VBS, which they loved (thanks Ashleigh for the invite!), 2 weeks of swimming lessons, been to the library almost daily for the Summer Reading Program for crafts, contests, and performances, clocked over 1000 minutes of reading time, gone to the Spray Park, gardened, hiked, biked, gone to free movies at the local movie theater, and eaten ALOT of pb & j sandwiches (that's about what we have time for to eat!) Somewhere in the midst of all this, I got really really sick, and Eben had to take off of work for 3 days to man the fort while I stayed in bed and did my best to not die.
I just wanted to share a couple of pics from the last couple of weeks. Simply because I am so proud of my kids. Here is the Middle Apple floating on her back. This is huge for her, since last summer she was not accustomed to swimming pools deeper than her knees and tried to drown in a friend's pool when I had turned my back for a second to apply sunscreen on the baby. She wanted me to let you all know that this picture was taken "in the deep end."
Here is The Big Apple doing the front crawl. Let it be known that she can swim the entire length of the deep end now, but we have not been able to convince her to take the plunge off the diving board yet. Not even when bribed with a $10 bill. Maybe next summer eh?
And summer just wouldn't be complete without somebody losing a tooth. The Middle Apple can now slurp spaghetti in through her teeth, and spit a watermelon seed out. Not at the same time, but you get the idea.
See yall later when we have some more updates from our busy lives!
